Privacy Statement
Updated 21st August 2026
De Mäktiga ("we", "us", "our") is a specialist IT resourcing agency based in London, UK. This policy explains how we collect use, and protect personal data when you visit our website or use our services, whether you're a client or a candidate.
We may update this policy from time to time. The last updated date at the top will reflect the most recent changes.
We retain personal data only as long as necessary — typically for the duration of an active placement process, plus a reasonable period afterwards to comply with legal or contractual obligations, or reconsider you for future roles (usually up to 2 years, unless you ask us to delete it sooner).
Data Security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or loss. This includes secure storage, restricted access controls, and regular reviews of our systems and processes.
While no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, we work to ensure your data is protected to an appropriate standard at every stage — from collection through to storage and eventual deletion.
Legal Basis
We only process personal data where we have a lawful basis to do so — typically because it's necessary to take steps towards a contract, such as placing you in a role, to comply with a legal obligation, or because it's in our legitimate interests to run our business effectively.Where we rely on your consent, such as for marketing communications, you're free to withdraw it at any time by contacting us using the details at the end of this policy.
If we transfer your personal data outside the UK or European Economic Area, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as standard contractual clauses or adequacy decisions recognised by the relevant authorities.
This mainly applies where we work with international clients or use service providers based outside the UK. Wherever your data travels, it remains protected to the same standard as set out in this policy.
We take data security seriously and have measures in place to detect, investigate, and respond to any suspected data breach as quickly as possible.
If a breach is likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms, we'll notify the ICO and, where required, inform you directly without undue delay.
What Data we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect: Contact details — name, email address, phone number, company name. Candidate information — CV/résumé, work history, qualifications, references, right-to-work status.
Client information — company details, hiring requirements, billing information. Website usage data — pages visited, browser type, general location (via cookies — see below).
We will collect directly from you, via our contact form, email, phone, or in-person conversations. Automatically, through cookies when you browse our website. From third parties, such as referrals or publicly available professional profiles (e.g. LinkedIn), where relevant to a role.
We may share your data with: Clients (for candidates being considered for a role) or candidates (for client hiring needs), with your knowledge. Service providers who support our operations (e.g. website hosting, email tools), under data processing agreements. Regulators or authorities, where legally required.
Cookies
Our website may use cookies to improve your browsing experience and understand how visitors use our site. Cookies help us remember your preferences and analyse site performance.
You can control or disable cookies at any time through your browser settings. Please note that restricting cookies may affect how parts of our website function.
You rights under GDPR
You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, and to request a copy of it. You can also ask us to correct any inaccurate or incomplete information.
You have the right to request deletion of your data, or to object to or restrict how we process it. You may also withdraw consent at any time, where consent is our basis for processing.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@demaktiga.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding, and we aim to reply within one month, as required by UK GDPR.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Our Commitment to Fair, Inclusive Contracting
De Mäktiga is a young business, we don't have a large HR function or a formal diversity programme yet — but we do have clear principles we're building on from day one, and we'd rather state them plainly than dress them up as something bigger than they are.
Vetting is based on skill, not background. Every engineer in our network is assessed on documented experience, technical ability, and reliability — never on name, education, nationality, or sex.
We source widely, on purpose. We actively look for talent across a broad range of platforms and communities, rather than relying on the two or three networks that tend to surface the same narrow pool of candidates.
Freelancing should be a stable way to work, not a precarious one. Clear contracts, fair rates, and prompt payment aren't perks — they're the baseline of how we at De Mäktiga treat every contractor we work with, regardless of background or sex
This is a starting point, not a finished policy. As De Mäktiga grows, we intend to build on these commitments deliberately — expanding more formal measurement and reporting as the business grows
